"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seventeen years, countless plates — and still unbeatable I’ve been coming here for the last 17 years, and that alone probably says everything that needs to be said. This is one of those places that becomes part of your life timeline — you don’t “discover” it, you grow up with it. It’s always busy, especially during school holidays and weekends. No surprises there. This is the kind of place where hundreds of plates fly out every night, each one cooked fresh the moment you order. You can literally see the rhythm — flames up, wok moving fast, plates lining up one after another. There’s no shortcutting here. What’s important for me to add — I’m vegetarian, and I always order the Besar Kosong version (large portion, no prawns, no cockles). And honestly, it’s still absolutely fantastic. The flavour, wok hei, texture, and balance are all there even without the seafood. That says a lot about the skill behind the cooking — the dish stands strong on its own, not just because of toppings. Not many char koay teow places can pull that off. For those who take the regular version, the prawns are fresh, the cockles are generous, and the flavours are deep without being overpowering. After all these years, the taste has remained remarkably consistent — and that’s not easy to maintain when you’re cooking at this scale, night after night. Yes, parking can be a bit of a challenge these days, especially with how popular the place has become. But honestly, that’s a small price to pay. People keep coming back for a reason, and I’ve never once regretted the effort to find a spot. What I love most is that this place hasn’t tried to reinvent itself or chase trends. It knows exactly what it is, and it does that one thing exceptionally well. No frills, no gimmicks — just honest, hardworking cooking that delivers every single time. After 17 years, I still come back. I still look forward to it. And I still leave satisfied. That, to me, is the true definition of a five-star makan place."
